Work is Work

Yes, I use Ambergrams. They're the best!
I get worried if something trips me up on Monday mornings. It makes me question everything I've done (work wise), and sets an insecure tone for the rest of the week. It's a soul-sucking, pit of your stomach, uneasy feeling.  Similarly, as a coxswain, when you have a bad race/practice/piece/someone says something sheisty, the funk of it permeates EVERYTHING.

Two days later…
Luckily, all the insecurity passed. Things are getting done at a very nice pace and things are getting crossed off the To-Do list. I do love my job. I think I'm lucky to have it, and although some parts aren't my favorite, I still work with great people and do things that get me excited.

I wish I could be one of those people who say, "Don't let one bad day ruin all your good ones."
I'm more along the lines of letting the bad days come few and far between. If enough days go by without hiccups, then I can let go of the one bad day. "Water under the bridge"-style, as long as things don't go downhill.

The Work/Life balance is something that we all strive for; to think and feel that our work is not all-consuming, and that our life is fulfilling. However, work does spill into our personal lives, whether we like it or not, and plays a pervasive part in how we go about our post-5pm.

As far as work goes, let it be work. If you love it, then you're lucky. If you're not doing what you love, your job is to find it.
In the meantime, pay your bills and leave it all on the water, err…office in this case.
