I like the idea of having a home base, a place to direct all the crazy social media outlets (except Facebook, I'm definitely not cool enough to Fan-page this blog...).
So New Year, new revamped blog. I have made it one of Resolutions/PUSH goals for the year. I actually keep my goals, so I'm feeling optimistic that blogging will be more of a semi-daily habit.
"The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day." ~Edith Lovejoy Pierce
With that said, Resolution #1: Start writing again, ACHIEVED.
I've actually reached a couple goals in the first week of the year, or at least laid the groundwork to do so.
There is always certain protocol when making resolutions. Is it plausible? Is it quantifiable? Is it something that I'm going to achieve anyway and I'm not thinking big enough?
So here's what I did...
I made a list of everything I want and should be doing with my everyday life, and found that they fit into 5 overall goals. From there, deconstruct what it would take to meet those goals. Keep breaking down these factors until they become small, everyday tasks that will turn into habit. Resolutions become a lifestyle.
So here are some other goals I'll share:
--Run more (Join a Track Club, schedule at least 5 races throughout the year, create a training schedule, etc.)
--Create a Budget and stick to it. With the help of my awesome responsible boyfriend, I've created an excel spreadsheet with all of incoming and outgoing finances. I've input my fixed expenses, direct deposits and payments, even added additional savings for bigger future investments. Suze Orman and my father would be so proud.
--Have a Quieter Mind (Reading before bed, Weekly Yoga, stretching, drinking more water)
--Create an work/living space that is both creative and efficient. I work from home, so this is big deal. I can spend up to three days in this apartment without going outside, so I better like where I am. The boyfriend and I are in negotiations to redoing our office space. Meanwhile, I've gotten to declutter rooms, closets, storage areas, everything to get ready for company this weekend. Perfect timing.
So that's what I'm hoping to accomplish, and maybe this blog will help me along the way. It is often said that people aren't as awesome as they portray themselves online. But maybe in this case, awesome will the journey, not the starting point.
