Getting Political

A presidential race is a good catalyst for giant explosion of people talking for no real reason. The things coming out of people's mouths lately have been really mean and infuriating, let alone what people are posting online.

I am a liberal and identify with the Democratic Party. I absolutely love Rachel Maddow, and the Newsroom is one of the best shows on television. With two months left in the Presidential Race, emotions definitely run high. I've be de-friended in the past because of my political affiliation… come on…

I've made a concerted effort not to chime in on every asinine thing that pops up in my News Feed, political or not. However, some politics are inescapable. Politics between friends, for example. How can one be diplomatic when weighing the feelings of our closest? Politics of the workplace, politics on every crew team on the planet, politics among family members; the effort to be politically correct, let alone fair and balanced, must be exhausting but it is necessary in a world of infinite communication. You can't simply just take things back, anymore...

In high school, I actually thought I'd be a good president. Being a coxswain, being a leader, even being a mediator, perhaps could parlay into a political career? I've often wondered how hard it would be to be a State Assembly member, even without a very strong political science background. How many people actually vote in those elections? Would it all be just playing the same game I've been playing for years? Being the voice of reason, that is.

But until that day, when what I say isn't dissected and used against me, I'll keep my mouth shut, pray in private, and let my actions and my vote do the talking.
