Fall Favorite Five

This month is culmination of two things I've been working on since the Spring: Florida Crew Alumni Weekend and the Rapphannock River Run 5K.

Both are big alumni-sponsored events that are kind of on the small side? My goal: To make them bigger. It's a bit of a challenge, like herding cats. But, there are little things (other things) that are keeping the stress away. Here are my five big events for the month, and the residual awesomeness that comes the package.

1) Florida Crew Family Weekend
This big event has gotten smaller and smaller in the past couple months. However, I believe we have a great group of people signed up to come, so a big crazy banquet is now a nice funky cocktail party. The event chair and I actually like it more.
In addition to the cocktail party and boathouse races the following day, there will also be a Super-Omega Reunion, lunch with my family, and the overall fun of being in Gainesville again.

2) Rappahannock River Run
The goal is to get 100 participants. We were at 70 as of Monday. So close, and we already have more people signed up than last year. My secondary goal is to organize a polished race that has a bit of structure and great hospitality. I will buy 100 bagels and bananas if I have to…

3) Taste of Atlanta
I might be a bad alumna for not trying to buy Florida-LSU tickets, but I find leaving early to go to Taste of Atlanta on Sunday is a much more fun and ful(filling) venture. This is our third year going. Last year, we even won passes to be guest judges at a chef cook off. Bad ass...

4) Fest-of-Ale
Another of my favorite events in Atlanta. The Atlanta Botanical Garden has cocktail parties every Thursday. For October, they serve awesome seasonal craft beers and display crazy scarecrows all around the garden. This one is my favorite, Plants vs. Zombies.

5) Mary and Mark's House (Re-)Warming/Halloween Party
Very exciting for one of my best friends to be moving in with her BF, and having her first house. Even better? Getting dressed up to celebrate! I will be going as Ramona Flowers. Troy will be Vegan Todd. It's like a couple costume, but not. Now to figure out what cookies to bring Mary… maybe these…
