My raw time for the PTC 10K was 1:06. I wanted to go sub-60 minutes, but all things considered, I am very pleased.
This course was through a subdivision, a very nice subdivision with a moderately hilly, meandering, golf cart/bike trail through the woods. It was a fun course, but I'm definitely not a hill person. So, I'll attribute that to my extended time.
One thing I was especially happy with was that my pace remained constant. I didn't walk, which is a big deal for me, and most of my core "gang", people I was perpetually racing with, I managed to leave behind in the last two miles. My end sprint felt very good and I am excited to start getting faster.
Even my breathing was very consistent. I have tiny red blood cells, half the size of normal blood cells. It's not a serious thing, but they do not hold as much oxygen and it depletes faster. So that I wasn't dying at the end of the hour was a big thing that I am extremely proud of.
I will say this with no remorse or reservation, I really don't like running. It's never been my favorite, and I definitely have never experienced Runner's High. What started as a guilt trip and a way to just lose weight, eventually turned into a challenge and something I decided to dedicate more time to, in hopes that I'll eventually respect running and maybe have a mutual friendly relationship with it.
