A Pin for You

This week, I did something a little out of my ordinary. I signed up for a contest promotion.
The task was sponsored by J.Crew via Pinterest. You'd pin five J.Crew images from their boards or their website, and with other pins on your board, you create a story.

This was much more fun than I anticipated.
Being an early Pinterest adopter (like really really early), I created my boards and themes in order to portray the type of person I am. I am someone who appreciates deep color, literature and pop culture, strong women, and being a Gator.

I use Pinterest for inspiration, whether it's ideas on how to dress, or recipes for the week, or motivation for workouts. And like all things, what started as something fun and quirky, is now ultimately way to express your style and your brand. It's a way to tell your story.

An obstacle I've been facing is finding out what I want my story to be; what utterly boring and utterly unbelievable tale I have to tell.

I always thought that I was a good writer, who just needed a starting block. Something to jump off of and inspire me to write. Now, the more and more I write this blog, the more conscious I am of my own story. Am I living a life that is worth writing about?

No lie. I ask myself that every day. And even on bad days, it reminds me that I've done some pretty awesome things.

So a little advice to bloggers, and coxswains, and anyone else:
You are writing the your story. Don't forget the plot.
